Dr. Pelin Yaylalı

Pelin Yaylalı, who was born in 1965 in Aydın village of Paphos District, started her primary education in Aydın village. After the Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974, she completed her primary education at Bostancı Fikri Karayel Primary School. After completing primary and secondary education in Morphou Kurtuluş High School, she started her undergraduate study in the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Political Science and Public Administration Department at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1982-1983. She graduated with an honours degree in 1987. Then, Yaylalı succeeded in the exams held in August 1988 and started to work at the Central Bank of the TRNC. Yaylalı, who served as an officer, auditor, and chief in various departments between 1988 and 2002, was appointed as the Director of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Department, which was established in 2002 and restructured after the banking crisis. She undertook important duties in the establishment of the Banks Supervision System and post-crisis banking. She was appointed as the Director of the Research and Fund Management Department in 2013 and as the Director of the Markets Department in 2017. She completed a master’s program at Eastern Mediterranean University during the years 1990-1993. Pelin Yaylalı, who completed the Business Administration Doctorate Program in the European University of Lefke (EUL) in 2021, has articles published in the field of risk management and a book study on post-crisis banking and cooperative structuring in Southern Cyprus. Yaylalı, who was appointed as the Deputy Governor upon the Decision of the Council of Ministers dated 25.06.2019, is married with two children.
